An access log is a text file containing an extensive list of all of the files accessed by your site visitors. All of the files which were requested in one way or another will be included, so if you have a PHP script application and a website visitor opens only the home page, for example, you may find plenty of files inside the log. This is because there are components on the home page that are embedded - parts of other webpages, images, etcetera. All of these files will be listed within the access log, so you're able to get a detailed picture of the way your site performs. The information is in plain text format, so the logs are frequently referred to as "raw data" too. An access log provides the name of each requested file, the path to it, the date it was accessed, plus the user’s IP address, Internet browser and OS. Additional information, like the referrer Internet site, is usually supplied too. A log file may be processed by various desktop apps for statistical purposes as an addition to the web statistics generated by your server.
Access Log Manager in Website Hosting
When you obtain a website hosting from our company, you will be able to decide if access logs have to be produced and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this must be done. You'll be able to activate this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia CP, incorporated with all shared accounts. Every single domain you host or subdomain you set up will be listed there and you see an On/Off option next to each of them, so you can easily trigger or disable the generation of access logs independently for every site that you have. You'll be able to save a log to your PC by clicking on the Download link that you'll see within the exact same section of the CP. The link will be available even after you disable the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data collected by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
When you have a semi-dedicated server account with our company, it will not take more than a couple of mouse clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The feature could be activated from the Hepsia hosting Control Panel and this may be done independently for each and every domain or subdomain which you have within your account. Whenever you log in and navigate to the Access/Error Logs section of the CP, you will discover a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to all of them. A single click will activate the log generation and a second one will deactivate it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will allow you to save the created content as a text file, which you may then use on your notebook or computer. Whether or not the logs are deactivated, you'll still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
