DomainKeys Identified Mail
What lies behind the acronym DKIM? How could this feature help your e-mail marketing campaigns?
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is a validation system used to check that an email has been sent by an authenticated server or individual. An e-signature is added to the header of the message using a private key. When the message is received, a public key that’s available in the global DNS database is used to check who actually sent it and whether the content has been modified in any way. The essential task of DKIM is to stop the widespread spam and scam email messages, as it makes it impossible to forge an email address. If a message is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank, for instance, but the signature does not correspond, you will either not get the email message at all, or you will get it with a notification that most probably it’s not legitimate. It depends on email service providers what exactly will happen with an email that fails the signature examination. DKIM will also supply you with an added layer of security when you communicate with your business partners, for instance, as they can see for themselves that all the e-mail messages that you exchange are authentic and haven’t been modified on their way.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Website Hosting
If you host a domain in a
website hosting account from our company, all the mandatory records for using the DomainKeys Identified Mail feature will be created by default. This will happen as soon as you add the domain in the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel, on the condition that your domain also uses our NS records. A private key will be generated on our mail servers, while a public key will be sent to the global DNS database automatically using the TXT record. Thus, you won’t have to do anything manually and you will be able to take full advantage of all the benefits of this authentication system – your emails will reach any audience without being denied and no one will be able to send out emails forging your addresses. The latter is truly important in case the essence of your online presence suggests sending periodic newsletters or offers via email to potential and current customers.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you choose any of the
semi-dedicated servers that we offer, you’ll be able to use DomainKeys Identified Mail protection with any domain name that you register through your brand-new semi-dedicated hosting account without any manual setup, as our top-notch cloud hosting platform will set up all the necessary records automatically, as long as the domain uses our name servers. The aforementioned is required for a TXT resource record to be set up for the domain, since this is how the public encryption key can become available in the global DNS system. The private key will also be added automatically to our mail servers, so anytime you send a new email, it will have our platform’s e-signature. The number of junk email messages continues to grow every year and rather often fake addresses are used, but when you use our hosting services, you and your clients or associates will not need to bother about that.
