IP Blocking
What is IP blocking and what does it mean for site visitors? When is it helpful?
If you notice a major increase in the traffic to your website and if after you look at the visitor statistics it turns out that it comes from countries across the globe or from other servers, your site is most likely being attacked by an automatic bot. Those programs go through random websites aiming to log in to their administration area using a brute-force attack or to leave spam comments beneath every article where this type of an option is provided. Regrettably, this is something quite common lately, but if you know the IP addresses through which the attacks come, you can block them, so the bots won't be able to access your website in any way. Certainly, you are able to block IPs even if you allow only people from particular countries to access your website.

IP Blocking in Website Hosting
If you have a
website hosting account with our company and you want to block one or a few IP addresses, you may use the IP Blocking tool, which is integrated into our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel. Through a rather simple interface, you can restrict any IP from accessing your content even if you have not had a web hosting account before. All it takes to do this is to log in to your CP, to check out the IP Blocking section, to pick a specific domain or subdomain from a drop-down menu and then to type in the IP address. You will not need to do anything complex if you'd like to block a whole network - you will just have to omit the last octet, so entering 1.1.1. with a blank space after the last dot will block the entire range from 1.1.1.1 to 1.1.1.255. All blocked IPs shall be listed inside the exact same section, so you shall be able to remove any one of them from the blacklist with just a mouse click.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which comes with our
semi-dedicated servers, will permit you to solve the challenge with unwanted traffic very quickly and easily. It incorporates an IP blocking tool in which you can add IP addresses with just several mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have in the account will be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to select the one you need and then type the IP address that should be blocked. If you wish to block an entire range, a C-class network for example, you just need to type in the first 3 octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That shall block all 254 addresses, so you will not need to type in them by hand. Because all the IPs which you add in this section shall be listed, you may easily unblock any one of them by clicking the Delete button relevant to the given IP.
